Dyson discontinued the V11 as subsequent top-of-the-line models dethroned it. Even if you find it for sale for $700, you may as well pay the same money for a newer V15. The Cinetic Big Ball upright is just too expensive for what you get. So you don't have to wash or replace filters.

When comparing their stick vacuums to Dyson's offerings, Shark vacuums feel better built and sturdier. However, they also tend to have a similar but slightly worse performance on carpet. Their upright vacuums usually perform better on all surface types than BISSELL vacuums.

Our Verdict. The Shark Navigator Lift-Away is much better than the Hoover WindTunnel 2 Whole House Rewind. The Shark has better performance on all surface types, it comes with a soft bristle brush, and it can also be used in a handheld mode.

Dyson vs Shark: Performance

As a rule of thumb, upright models are more powerful than cordless, while canister models are best on hardwood floors. If you're directly comparing like for like with Shark and Dyson, Dysons do tend to offer slightly more power and pick-up.

The Dyson V8 Animal is slightly better than the Shark Anti-Allergen Pet Power. The Dyson is more portable, incurs virtually no recurring costs, and comes with a few more tools and accessories, including a removable primary brushroll and a motorized turbo brush.
